Badging and 21st Century Learning
Share |

AAEEBL is part of an international badging initiative funded at Deakin University in Melbourne, AU.  For several years, AAEEBL has explored using badges within AAEEBL as a way to recognize contributions to the association and to the eportoflio field.  We have partnered with Credly, a leading company providing badging for educators, learners and educational institutions and organizations.  This effort has been led by Judy Williamson Batson of AAEEBL.  Badges were conferred at AAEEBL2014 in Boston and will be again in 2015..

Badges are a potential additional data point in assessing the achievement of learners.  We say "additional" to avoid the common mistake in these technology-infused times of claiming that something new will completely replace something traditional.  Badges can and do add important information about skills and abilities, about the criteria behind the badge and about who has conferred the badge.

AAEEBL continues to pursue the idea of badges and opportunities to further employ badges.

The AAEEBL Regional Conference at Notre Dame University May 12-13, 2016 has a focus on badging.
